If you have more than one computer in your home, it's great to network them together for many reasons. Firstly you will be able to share files with one another, and secondly, you can all get connected to the internet at the same time by just using one router. However it's not always convenient to build a network in a home. The main reason being is that unlike in an office, not all the computers will be in one location. So when you have a network you might end up with cables all over the place.
The solution to this is to build your own wireless network connection! It works just as well as an ordinary network but without all the fuss of cables and whatnots. The simple steps to building your very own wireless network connection are as follows:
Firstly, make a checklist of the things you need for a wireless network. These items include a wireless router, your modem and wireless adapters (for your desktop computers) or laptop wireless adapters (for your laptop). The number of adapters that you will need depend on the number of computers and laptops you wish to connect.
Next connect the wireless router to your modem with your Ethernet cable. (Be sure to have everything turned off including your computers).
Now turn on your computers and install all the necessary pc adapters and software required. If you're using an older operating system you might need to install a few extra drivers so take note of that.
Turn everything off again and wait for a minute or two. Then turn on your modem and wait for all the lights to come on.
Next turn on your wireless router and wait for it to start up before switching on your computers. They should then do a search for the wireless router before connecting themselves to the network and then the internet through the new wireless router.
And voila, you have your new wireless network connection up and running.
To include a new computer in the network just start from the top again.
