Much like a car, a refrigerator or even your watch, the computer is a machine that is made out of many parts. Now each and every one of these computer parts is different, they each have their own function but they are all essential and a must have for a working computer. If you don't know anything about computer accessories, well, here is a quick guide to some of the more important parts in any pc.

Computer Case
The computer case is an integral part of the computer. It doesn't just hold the motherboard and your internal drives, but it also it also protects the delicate circuitry and provides airflow to cool the internal components. Computer parts like a case can come in various shapes and sizes. The size of the case usually determines how your computer can be upgraded or modified. Small cases have a limited number of bays which hold components like hard drives and CD drives. A larger case will allow to you have more hard drives for example. But bigger isn't always better and you need to decide what you will be using your computer for before buying a case.

Power Supply
Not really a computer accessory but an essential part of the computer is the power supply. Like its name sake it is a small box that provides power for all of the internal components and some of the external components. A high-quality power supply is essential for supplying stable current to the sensitive electronic components that make up a computer system.

Cooling Fans
Rarely will you see computer parts bought in bulk, unless of course you're talking about cooling fans. Basically, computers generate a lot of heat so you have to make sure that they stay cool in order to function well. Cooling fans are actually not optional but some people choose to have as many as they can possibly install to keep their computers cool. Because of this cooling fans may be listed under computer accessories. The general rule for using cooling fans is this, the more you put in your computer, the more cooling fans you will need.

USB Ports
Many modern peripherals use USB (Universal Serial Bus) to connect to the computer. Common examples of computer accessories that require a USB port include printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, as well as external storage devices such as hard drives, CD-ROMs, and memory cards. Because of this most companies that sell computer accessories will tell you that USB ports are an essential part of computers and that you have to have some. Not just one, but some. And what they say is true, it is generally a good idea to have plenty of USB ports in your computer. This is so that you won't have to juggle between computer accessories when you run out of ports.
